Deep Sky Drawings

I brought my 10"-Dobsonian in May 1997 to La Palma, to make some last drawings of the vanishing Hale-Bopp and lots of nebula, galaxies and one quasar (guess ?). Magnification was 130X in all cases which resulted in a FOV of 0.38 deg with this eyepiece (9 mm LV).

First examples of a special drawing technique I am developing are presented here. It uses the huge database which the GSC-CDROM provides us today. In a first step GUIDE 6.0 is used to map all stars in the field of the object of interest into an image. The limiting mag is adjusted to the one I saw at the scope. A small program enhances the stellar appearance and adds the drawing into the proper position. Of cause this was scanned beforehand. Most of the objects drawn have been targets for my CCD camera since 1998. See my pages about

While I visited the great star party (13.ITT) in Austria (September 26/27 1997), I obtained the following drawings under good sky-conditions.
